In reply to the hereinabove document, we report the following:
(1) On $$$ 1608 inmates were being detained in the Males’ Department of the
Korydallos Detention Facility. In accordance with the table on the capacity of detention
facilities which has been published by the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human
Rights, the Korydallos Detention Facility has in total 1396 inmate posts, out of which
1270 in the Males’ Department and 126 in the Women’s Department.
(2) In the individual cells of an area of 9.5 square meters correspond on average two
inmates with certain excesses in certain cases.
(3) The hourly timetable of the detention facility for the inmates is determined in article
8 of the Internal Statute of Operation (Decision no. 58819/7.4.2003 GGI B´ 463/17-4-
2003) and is the following:
07.30 Morning wake-up call - opening of cells and wards - counting of inmates
07.45 Distribution of breakfast
08.00-12.00 Sport, work, education, participation in programs, leisure time
12.00 Completion of the distribution of lunch
12.15 Afternoon closing of cells and wards - Counting of inmates
12.30-15.00 Noon rest
15.00 Afternoon opening of the facility
15.00 until half an hour prior to sunset: Sport, work, education, participation in
programs, leisure time.
Half an hour prior to sunset: Evening closing of the facility - Distribution of dinner -
final counting.
The stay of inmates is permitted in the wings with the railings closed (external gates of
the wing) during the winter period until 20.30 and during the summer period until 21.00.
After these hours the inmates are confined in their cells or in their wards until the next
morning.
By derogation the inmates remain outside the cells and wards in the wings with the

religious, national and local holidays in the noon hours, during the noon hours and for
