participated the actress Asimina Anastasopoulou. Costumes, sets and technical
equipment were provided by the National Theatre. Three performances were delivered
in a specially shaped outdoor area which were attended by a total of approximately 200
invited journalists, directors, educators and 100 inmates in treatment and trainee
inmates. The performance was accompanied by the Mixed Musical Ensemble of the
Music Laboratory of the Greek National Opera. The performance received highly
positive reviews by the daily and electronic press.
(July 2017 and onwards): Theatrical adaptation of the novel by Anton Chekhov
‘Ward No. 6’ and preparation of the performance which has been programmed
for March 2018 yet again with the support of the National Theatre.
(October 2017), Theatrical Seminar on the Mask by the National Theatre actor
Philippos Papachristodoulou to members of the Theatrical Group, along with the
director Stratis Panourios. The seminar was attended by 20 inmates.

Theatrical performances by Benaki Museum professional actors with the subtitle
“From the silence of the display case to living theatrical voices”:
- ‘Initiation of Neoptolemus’ (January 2017) (translation by I. N. Gryparis,
Director: Stratis Panourios, Costume management: Myra Vazeou, Actors:
Stratis Panourios, Dimitris Imellos, Stathis Koikas, Elena Marsidou), with an
introduction by Irene Papageorgiou, Curator of the Benaki Museum
Collections. The performance was attended by 90 trainees at the Second Chance
School and by the groups of the “Reading Club”.
- ‘Twelve garlic cloves, fifteen onions’ (March 2017), based on poems by
Ptochoprodromos (Director: Stratis Panourios, Costume management: Myra
Vazeou, Actors: Stratis Panourios, Nestoras Kopsidas, Nikos Gelalis, Elena
Marsidou). With an introduction by Anastasia Drandaki Curator of the
Byzantine and Post - Byzantine Collection of the Benaki Museum.
- ‘What the Old Man Said’ and ‘Erofili’s Embroidery’ (16.05.2017). Two
performances on the same day which were attended by 100 trainee inmates.
