Realization of two bazaars with handicraft works by male and female inmates in
cooperation with the Municipality of Korydallos. The revenues were disposed for
the support of the prison charity fund.

In cooperation with the Young Women Christian Association (world women’s
organization with the aim of women’s support and development) there is realized a
creative work program for women inmates which is being implemented by
volunteers of the Athens Young Women Christian Organisation at their own expense
(once every fortnight).

In cooperation with the Prisoners Aid Society “ONISIMOS” and the funding of the
Stavros Niarchos Foundation an art program is being realized and two laboratories
have been operating (men’s and women’s department). The program of a term of two
(2) years includes weekly group meetings. The laboratories will be divided into five
independent thematic units. The aims of the laboratory are the following:

The contact and the dealing of the inmates with art

The acquaintance and experimentation with specific visual art materials.

The creation of works of art, either decorative or utility objects

Their education in visual arts with the possibility of their utilization in a subsequent
term also for their sustenance.

The support of the prison charity fund, as some of the works which will be created will
be exhibited and will be sold in the framework of extroversion actions.

ART WORKSHOP of the Reading Club (responsible: Detention Facility Sociologist)
with the financing for the purchase of materials by the Ministry of Justice, Transparency
and Human Rights. Organization of the exhibition of works of the art group at the
Cultural Centre “Melina Merkouri” of the Municipality of Korydallos (30/1/2017 until

5/2/2017), in the 21 Art Athina Expo and in the 31 Pan-Hellenic Exhibition of
Prisoners’ Works.
Exhibition of works by the Art Workshop of the “Reading Club” of the Korydallos
Detention Facility in the Portrait Gallery of the Municipality of Piraeus from 30 October
- 19 November 2017 in cooperation with the Municipality of Piraeus, the Parliament
Foundation and the Second Chance School of Korydallos, with the aim of enhancing
the skills of the inmates and their efforts for creative work.

Painting Exhibition (March 2017) with the topic of football in works of famous
Greek painters (Samios, Zoumpoulakis etc.) with the support of the Veterans of
PROODEFTIKI Sport Club.
